Welcome my fellow broke college students!

This title of this blog is....

$AVE DAT DOUGH

I thought for this blog I want to keep it real with my fellow broke college students.

As a college student I have learned that I love to spend money. I feel like I should be on that show strange addictions because I am addicted to spending money. It's like I can't go a day without taking out my wallet.
I know. I'm weird.

However, I have gotten better because that spending has caught up with me. So now I save money every way possible.
Hence why this blog's theme is the way it is. I'ma broke college student.

I want to encourage all college students to not only think twice but three or four times before you reach for that dough and ask yourself "Do I really want this?"
then ask
"Do I really need this?"
then finally ask
"Can I actually afford this?"
After asking these questions and thinking over it a couple times.. you will find yourself $AVING DAT DOUGH

The song Save Dat Money by Lil Dicky (PRE-WARNING IT IS A EXPLICIT SONG) has really helped me throughout this semester. I encourage you to listen to it. It will really change your perceptive on spending money for the rest of your life.

I hope everyone has a great week of $aving Dat Dough

Welcome my fellow broke college students!

I talked last blog about cheap ways to buy gifts for the up coming holiday.  This week I am going to keep with that theme and show several different gifts you can make yourself and all under
$5

For this blog and activities, you need to have a local dollar store (my favorite place in this whole world).

Shout out to this awesome blog where I got most (all) these ideas

The first gift is any type of candy with free Christmas printable on it
101+ inexpensive handmade Christmas gifts on iheartnaptime.com
The typical candy treat is a candy cane and you get like a pack of 50 little ones at the dollar store. Since you're at the dollar store just go by the arts and crafts section and pick up some fancy ribbon to wrap around the candy.
Then go home and print out one of these free Christmas printables and BOOM!!! 50 Gifts done.

The next one is super cute!

Donut Snowman Classroom Snack
As seen in the picture, all you need is a dollar store pack of doughnuts, dollar store black construction paper, a dollar store sharpie, and some dollar store ribbon.
Just tie the ribbon around the doughnuts, use the sharpie and draw face, cut out the little hat in the black paper and...... BOOM!!!!! SNOWMAN GIFTS DONE!!

For the next one, It's going to take some time to make.

Super cheap and easy to make! And you can get everything from... THE DOLLAR STORE!!
Use a small microwave safe bowl and melt some chocolate. Use candy cane spoons (yes they exist) (and yes they are at the dollar store) and dip them in the melted chocolate. Then put it in the fridge to harden up. You could stop there or read below...

For the more creative people who want to spend $3 more, add a snowman!
Create the snowman body with three marshmallows and stick little pretzels in the side for arms. And if you want to go big and beyond- add little chocolate chips as eyes. BOOM!!!!! MORE CHEAP CHRISTMAS GIFT!!!

For more exciting and cheap Christmas gift check out that blog that I mentioned at the top! I hope that these ideas help you have an affordable Christmas!!

Welcome fellow broke college students!!

Even though it's only November it's time to start thinking about Christmas.
Or as I like to call it..... Moneylessmas

Christmas can be a hard time of year especially when you are broke like me and have several siblings expecting to get something because saying 'Merry Christmas' isn't enough for them. 😐

But anyway..

This week's blog is gonna be about getting gifts but of course on budget.

To start off here is a little list process I always go through before I go shopping.

Planning your budget:

List everyone you are planning on gifting.
Brainstorm gift ideas for each person and assign an amount of money you are thinking of spending on them.
Add up all potential gift amounts.
Brainstorm other holiday costs, from decorating and entertaining to travel and charitable giving.
Add the amount of your other holiday costs to your gift amount and then step back. If you are uncomfortable with this amount, go back over your list and trim it.

Here is some of MY OWN gift giving advice:
  • Image result for gift

    • *A key tip to always remember if you aren't going to see that family member on Christmas or anywhere near the holiday... no need in getting a gift for them
    • REGIFT EVERYTHING POSSIBLE
    • Go to the dollar store first
    • Then go to Five Below
    • Always go to clearance rack or isle first
    • $5 gift cards are always a great choice. Super cheap but still looks like you went all out.
    • Homemade things are great to give to parents and grandparents. Affordable and adorable.
    • ALWAYS ASK FOR MONEY AS THE GIFT
    • Never get fancy wrapping
    • NO need for bows

Honestly, if your family isn't like mine and grateful for everything. No need to get gifts. Christmas isn't about gifts anyway.
But if you want to give me money as a gift I would not turn it down.

Always remember.... It's okay to be broke

It is getting a little nippy outside and I found myself shopping online for fall clothes. All the cute fall clothes were expensive. But I'm broke.
But I still needed to look good for this cold season. So I decided to look up some clothing stores and online deals that could help to keep fashionable but stay affordable.

    Dressin' on a budget!

Welcome my fellow broke college students!

This week's blog is going to be for college kids who are broke and hungry. I will be giving you suggestions on how to make easy and great tasting food within your dorm. Just make sure you have a microwave and some mugs.

Now some of these meals may need a Walmart trip but they will totally worth it! These meals will make you feel fancy while being cheap!

    Eggs

    Ingredients:

    • -As many eggs as you want

    • -1 tbsp shredded cheese

    • -salt and pepper

    • -Optional toppings: sliced avocado, green onions, salsa
    Directions:
Spray a microwave safe bowl generously with cooking spray or some butter . Crack an egg into the bowl. Stir them up for one minutes. Stir in shredded cheese and a dash of salt and pepper. Place the bowl in the microwave and microwave on high for 1 to 1 1/2 minutes, Watch closely so eggs don't puff up over the edges of the bowl or explode. Carefully remove bowl, top with any toppings and enjoy.

    Caffe Cocoa Mocha:
    Ingredients:
    – 2 packets hot chocolate mix

    – 1 packet instant coffee

    – 2 cups milk

    Directions:
Pour instant chocolate mix and half of the coffee mix into a microwave safe mug, and repeat. In a separate microwave safe bowl or mug, microwave the milk for 2 minutes. Pour about half the milk into both cups and stir vigorously with a spoon until the powder dissolves. Distribute the rest of the milk between the two cups and enjoy.

    French Toast:
    Ingredients:

    – 2 slices of bread (we used challah)

    – 1 egg

    – ¼ cup milk

    – 1 tsp vanilla extract
    – cinnamon for garnish
    Directions:
Mix the milk, egg, and vanilla extract together. In a small microwave safe ramekin or bowl, tear one of the slices of the bread into pieces and fill the ramekin. Drizzle the egg mix over the bread. Repeat with the other slice of bread. Microwave in the oven for 2 minutes, or until it's no longer runny. Sprinkle with cinnamon.

    COOKIE IN A MUG

    Ingredients
    - ½ medium banana
    -1 ½ tablespoons peanut butter
    -½ tablespoon honey (or agave)
    -1 tablespoon mile
-4 tablespoons oats (rolled or quick oats)
-1 tablespoon raisins (seeds or nuts)
    Instructions
In a large microwavable mug mash the banana well with a fork. Stir in the peanut butter, milk and honey and mix well together. Add in the oats and raisins and stir until combined. Microwave for 45 seconds - 1 minute or until firm to the touch on top. (Cook time is based on my 1200 watt microwave so your timing may vary)

NOW THIS ONE IS THE BEST ONE OF ALL!!!

    WAIT FOR IT..

    WAIT A LITTLE BIT MORE..

GRILLED CHEESE MADE WITH AN IRON!
    Ingredients
    -an iron
-a towel (or an ironing board if you have one)
    -aluminum foil
    -butter
    -a knife
    -two pieces of bread
-two slices of cheese (I'm using cheddar, but feel free to use whatever kind you have available)

    Directions
Use the knife to spread butter on both pieces of bread. Use the knife to spread butter on both pieces of bread.Flip one piece of bread over so the buttered side is down. Place the slices of cheese on this piece of bread. Take the other piece of bread and set it on top go the cheese. The buttered side should be facing up.
Wrap the foil around the sandwich. Place the hot iron directly on the top of the foil. Allow the iron to sit on the sandwich for about 7 Minutes before flipping the sandwich over and ironing the other side. It can take about 10 minutes per side to reach desired level of toasty-ness, but it could take more or less time depending on how hot your iron is and how toasty you want your sandwich. To check to see if the sandwich is done, remove the iron and unwrap the foil from around the sandwich.

Once your sandwich has been ironed to your liking, unwrap the foil from around it. Cut it into squares or triangles if you wish and ENJOY!!!
