Welcome my fellow broke college students!

It is getting a little nippy outside and I found myself shopping online for fall clothes. All the cute fall clothes were expensive. But I'm broke.
But I still needed to look good for this cold season. So I decided to look up some clothing stores and online deals that could help to keep fashionable but stay affordable.

Dressin' on a budget!

For the first one I know a lot of people would never shop here but I'm all about great deals. Especially because I'm broke.

Walmart..

Walmart can have some ugly Christmas sweaters but other than all of those ugly clothes, there can be some super stylish clothes.

Such as these jeans and shoes!!!!

Signature by Levi Strauss & Co. Women's Skinny Jeans

These jeans are only $20. And everyone knows that you need at least one Walmart clothing item in your closet. It's like a universal rule.

Another stylish clothing items are somewhat dress shirts for guys.

Hanes Big Men's Comfortblend EcoSmart Jersey Polo with Pocket

The next store I am absolutely in love with! This store hands down has the best deals I have ever seen!

It's called

Welcome my fellow broke college students!

This week's blog is going to be for college kids who are broke and hungry. I will be giving you suggestions on how to make easy and great tasting food within your dorm. Just make sure you have a microwave and some mugs.

Now some of these meals may need a Walmart trip but they will totally worth it! These meals will make you feel fancy while being cheap!

Eggs

Ingredients:

  • -As many eggs as you want

  • -1 tbsp shredded cheese

  • -salt and pepper

  • -Optional toppings: sliced avocado, green onions, salsa
Directions:
Spray a microwave safe bowl generously with cooking spray or some butter . Crack an egg into the bowl. Stir them up for one minutes. Stir in shredded cheese and a dash of salt and pepper. Place the bowl in the microwave and microwave on high for 1 to 1 1/2 minutes, Watch closely so eggs don't puff up over the edges of the bowl or explode. Carefully remove bowl, top with any toppings and enjoy.

Caffe Cocoa Mocha:
Ingredients:
– 2 packets hot chocolate mix

– 1 packet instant coffee

– 2 cups milk

Directions:
Pour instant chocolate mix and half of the coffee mix into a microwave safe mug, and repeat. In a separate microwave safe bowl or mug, microwave the milk for 2 minutes. Pour about half the milk into both cups and stir vigorously with a spoon until the powder dissolves. Distribute the rest of the milk between the two cups and enjoy.

French Toast:
Ingredients:

– 2 slices of bread (we used challah)

– 1 egg

– ¼ cup milk

– 1 tsp vanilla extract
– cinnamon for garnish
Directions:
Mix the milk, egg, and vanilla extract together. In a small microwave safe ramekin or bowl, tear one of the slices of the bread into pieces and fill the ramekin. Drizzle the egg mix over the bread. Repeat with the other slice of bread. Microwave in the oven for 2 minutes, or until it's no longer runny. Sprinkle with cinnamon.

COOKIE IN A MUG

Ingredients
- ½ medium banana
-1 ½ tablespoons peanut butter
-½ tablespoon honey (or agave)
-1 tablespoon mile
-4 tablespoons oats (rolled or quick oats)
-1 tablespoon raisins (seeds or nuts)
Instructions
In a large microwavable mug mash the banana well with a fork. Stir in the peanut butter, milk and honey and mix well together. Add in the oats and raisins and stir until combined. Microwave for 45 seconds - 1 minute or until firm to the touch on top. (Cook time is based on my 1200 watt microwave so your timing may vary)

NOW THIS ONE IS THE BEST ONE OF ALL!!!

WAIT FOR IT..

WAIT A LITTLE BIT MORE..

GRILLED CHEESE MADE WITH AN IRON!
Ingredients
-an iron
-a towel (or an ironing board if you have one)
-aluminum foil
-butter
-a knife
-two pieces of bread
-two slices of cheese (I'm using cheddar, but feel free to use whatever kind you have available)

Directions
Use the knife to spread butter on both pieces of bread. Use the knife to spread butter on both pieces of bread.Flip one piece of bread over so the buttered side is down. Place the slices of cheese on this piece of bread. Take the other piece of bread and set it on top go the cheese. The buttered side should be facing up.
Wrap the foil around the sandwich. Place the hot iron directly on the top of the foil. Allow the iron to sit on the sandwich for about 7 Minutes before flipping the sandwich over and ironing the other side. It can take about 10 minutes per side to reach desired level of toasty-ness, but it could take more or less time depending on how hot your iron is and how toasty you want your sandwich. To check to see if the sandwich is done, remove the iron and unwrap the foil from around the sandwich.

Once your sandwich has been ironed to your liking, unwrap the foil from around it. Cut it into squares or triangles if you wish and ENJOY!!!

Welcome my fellow broke college students!

We are now in the month of October; you know what that means.... Hallowbroke👻

Yes, it is time to put on those costumes just so we can get free candy from our rich next door neighbor (or if you're cool enough to get invited to a halloween party). Of course it cost $$$ to get those costumes, but there is a way we can get them for free!
WE MAKE THEM OURSELVES!!!!!!!

Here are few outfits that you can do for $10 or less:

1. You can be a "Selfie"

What you gotta do: Get some cardboard form your most recent pizza box. Paint the top three inches blue and write "Instagram" in white letters. Then cut a square in the middle of the box so you pose with your friends. Include "likes" and a funny caption! Don't forget the hashtag... #dormnonabudget

2. Pregnant Kim Kardashian

What you gotta do: Find a fitted dress you don't care about anymore and cut a thigh-high slit. Slick your hair back into a low ponytail with a middle part. Lastly, use one of your pillows as a the baby bump.
3. Bubble Bath

What you gotta do: Put on all white clothes. Attach white balloons (you can get at the dollar store) onto the white clothes with glue. Where a towel around your neck and shower cap. You can even dress it up with a rubber ducky!

4. Flo, the progressive agent

What you gotta do: Get a white apron, get a blue sharpie and write "Progressive" on the front. Use the same sharpie to draw the name tag, then write the name "Flo". Dress in all white and put red lipstick on! Boom, you're done!

5. NINJA

What you gotta do: Wear all black with a bandana over your mouth. Get some fake swords from the dollar store and duct tape them to your back. Then just do crazy tricks all night.

However if none of these costumes suit you... here is a phenomenal video that shows additional DIY's that fall into our budget! (Mine are still better)

I hope these costumes help with your low budget! Happy Hallowbroke

A little bit about me:

Wassup, my name is Faith Green. I am a freshman in college and I'm already broke. I've learned that the temptation of spending money is a tricky thing to get away from and I am now suffering the consequences. I am new to the "not having money" thing but I am willing to learn how to deal with it. I will be walking this journey through this blog as I discover new ways to save money.
